Lincoln Abraham Art!

Next time you're in Gettysburg, make a point to stop in at Wendy Allen's Lincoln Into Art Gallery.

She does a lot of Lincoln art. Wendy's a very talented artist, and her work was chosen to be the cover art for the Southern Illinois University Press' Compact Lincoln Library series of books.
Interesting paintings, Cash. Thanks for the introduction.

Three pieces from my childhood neck of the woods:
First, the more aesthetic one:

The folksy one:

And then the one that perhaps only a local can truly grow to love:

Like I said when I introduced myself -- quite possibly the ugliest statue of Lincoln in existence -- but it's quite the conversation piece (Grandpa loved it because it was Lincoln, it was here, and by goly it put us on the map; Grandma and Great-granny hated it because they though "Father Abraham deserves better than that ugly thing"; and then there were those who just had a grudge against Lincoln, a feeling which persisted oddly enough into modern times, and likely has something to do with the pot shots being taken at it from time to time -- whether that's better than being shunted off and forgotten, as it is now, is open for conjecture). I have to admit, it's a sight to sore the eyes...but after a while you tend to grow fond of it for its quirky self, much like the area its indigenous to. It also claims pride of being the eldest of the three offerings, and probably memories of childhood are indeed what makes the heart more fond.
