Thank you, gentlemen, for your terrific contributions! It's great to see such a variety of media and images.

A rarely seen painting of a wounded Lincoln being carried from Ford's Theatre to the Petersen House is undergoing restoration. By Carl Bersch, a German immigrant painter, it was done in 1865 and is believed to be the only painting depicting Lincoln's assassination by an eyewitness to the tragedy:

I don't think I've ever seen this. Wish it were a bit lighter as to discern more detail.
Thank you, @LoyaltyOfDogs.

Rats. Can't decide if I like that or not. Not hugely given to ' What does it mean?' in art, to each his own- it'd be an awfully boring world if everyone thought alike. Also not into heavy messages hanging on one's wall. Would have to know what this is about? Anyone have a guess? That's a genuine question, please?

This pic gives me pause, as well. Lincoln appears to be black or mulatto. I sense a message-laden portrait but haven's spent much time studying it.

I don't like it, but gave a 'like' as an appreciation for the contribution.
