A Memorial Day Flag Garden

Around the Massachusetts Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Boston Common each year, the Memorial Day Flag Garden commemorates nearly 250 years of Bay State war dead. Each flag is sponsored by a contribution from the public to the Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund. This year there are more than 37,000 flags.

It made me cry, each flag someone who didn't come home. Those stories would fill tomes. It's beautiful because it's so beautifully poignant.
