The ruins of a Vicksburg area plantation produced a few relics in the wee hours this morning. I only wish I had
taken a photo of the sunrise over the Mississippi river.
As you can see, it's a variety of things. I did pop out a 1917 penny and a 1943 Mercury dime.
The first thing I found was the shell casing to a Henry rifle cartridge. It's in the top center of the photo.
Here's a one-piece heavily decorative gold gilt button with a "W.H. Jones" backmark.
This button dates 1835-1840.
This was a neat piece. It is a copper maple leaf pendant with gold wash on it.
This is a small brass scabbard tip to a dagger or knife. It measures a mere 1 inch in length.
