Being serious, I'm not sure riding a horse in a reenactment with one eye, whether just covered or really gone is a BAD idea...

I've seen on a western movie set how that mix can go bad in a hurry! No depth perception.

Looking at it on my phone I thought he had sunglasses on, didn't realize it was an eyepatch, see it now.

Well, the horse knew his rider couldn't see the photographer over there, so he figured he'd better keep an eye on him.
I thought loss of an eye got you a disability discharge. Would he even be allowed in a combat situation?

Probably easier then driving a car with one eye, and safer too. With the extra brain and eyes and all that.
