After browsing through it, found this work provides a collection of interesting short stories and other information relating to a select special group of dedicated individuals who were Northern Army Nurses during the Civil War.

Always thought that this branch of service was underrepresented in the published historiography for the period.

This really is a five star book. These women rock. Any notion of women in the 1860s being shy or retiring is put to rest by some of these stories. Mary Ellis is particularly impressive. Great recommendation. Thanks!
