What Union rank and branch of service are represented by the insignia shown on the below jacket?

Credit: @57th Indiana Infantry

Bonus: Confederate Brigadier General T. R. R. Cobb, a direct antecedent of the immortal T. R. Cobb (better known as Ty Cobb), mortally wounded at Fredericksburg, is buried a short walk from this edifice.

rank: musician
branch: drum and bugle corp
edifice: UGA Chapel in Athens, Ga

Edit - To the best of my knowledge, drum and bugle corps didn't become popular until well after the Civil War. They wouldn't qualify as a branch of service in any event.

Must be a private as no rank marks are worn.

Edit - You're right about his being a private, but you would also have needed to say what branch he belonged to in order to get credit for a correct response.

Welcome to the trivia game, Major Bill. Hope you'll come back and play again.

Union M1858 Shell Jacket of an Artillery Musician. The rank of Musician was a position held by military band members, particularly during the American Civil War. The rank was just below Corporal, and just above Private. In some units it was more or less equal to the rank of Private

Bonus:
Oconee Hill Cemetery is an American cemetery in Athens, Georgia. The cemetery opened in 1856 and is located just off the University of Georgia's campus. It is still an open cemetery.[1]

Oconee Hill Cemetery was purchased in 1855 by the city of Athens when further burials were prohibited in the old town cemetery on land owned by the University of Georgia. In 1856, the city formed a self-perpetuating Board of Trustees to hold and manage in trust the original purchase of 17 acres (69,000 m2) on the west side of the North Oconee River as a public cemetery for the benefit of the town

Looks to be a Sergeant of Dragoons....Cobb was probably fragged by his own folk...He is buried in Oconee Cemetary, adjacent to the U.Ga grounds...about 2007 his old home, a FEDERALIST Mansion<grinnnn> was moved to Stone Mountain to save it from a wrecking ball

Bonus- I am taking the meaning of edifice in its broadest sense. Therefore my answer is Sanford Stadium. It is certainly large and a short walk from Oconee Cemetery where TRR Cobb is interred.

Sanford Stadium is the on-campus playing venue for football at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia, United States. The 92,746-seat stadium is the tenth-largest stadium in the NCAA. Wikipedia
