7th wv hat devices

Hello,does anyone know if the 7th wv infantry used hat brass on their hats while on active campaign? I just got a new forge cap and want to put my hat brass on it.but if its not historically accurate Im not gonna do it.

@Capt7thWvCoA what time period in the war are you portraying?

I haven't seen many period images of the 7th West Virginia Infantry. The attached photo shows Company B in 1864 which I'm sure you have seen.
