Major William Worthington Russell

Edit - Russell was Paymaster of the U. S. Marine Corps in 1861-62, but never served on the Confederate side.

Lloyd James Beall

Edit - Beall was a paymaster in the U. S. Army before joining the Confederacy. He became Commandant of the C. S. Marines, but was never their paymaster.

Potential trap--I hope nobody got caught!--the commandant of the CSA Marine Corps, Lloyd J. Beall, was a US Army paymaster before the war.
