Trivia 4-27-17 Longevity

I'll go with Brig Gen William Ruffin Cox? Cox was wounded 11 times (5 of them at Chancellorsville.) He died in December 1919 .....54 years after the war ended - but he is the only general I could find that was wounded 11 times and survived the war.

I'm probably wrong, but is it William R. Cox? He was the only general I could find that was wounded that many times, although he lived 54 years after the War ended.

According to the source I found, this guy died in 1914 but suffered only six wounds during the war.

However, I can't find any better answers, so I'm going with Joshua Chamberlain.

A wild guess and most probably a wrong one is Joshua "don't call me Lawrence" Chamberlain.

Somebody should add the right one to that thread we had a while ago about the most injured Civil War general. The thread makes an interesting read!

Edit - The choice of the word "almost" was unfortunate. I would have thought that ruled out anyone who lived more than 50 years past the end of the war, as Cox did.

However, most players seem to have focused on the "wounded eleven times" clue and found the correct answer, anyway.
