So I saw a solid 32 pounder on the website of a well known Dealer I've done business with before but it was sold already. But they just got in a 32 pounder mortar shell and would I like it. Heck yeah even better. Priced reasonably too. So they ship it to me right away with no time to clean it. I should of paid them an extra $10 to clean it out. Ya got to laugh, it was packed with peanuts still in the shell that have been there awhile. After numerous attempts to crush the peanuts with a screwdriver and filling it with water over and over to soften them up, I got it cleaned out. Good exercise shaking it up and down too. Can't make this stuff up.

It's the smaller of the 4.

Nice adition. Could you post some close ups of the fuse hole. BTW it not a mortar ball but may be a CS 32lber.

Story on the solid shot is I got it in trade when I quit/retired reenacting many years ago. He brought and traded for some of my gear. He and some friends were snorkeling off a Pontoon on the Connecticut North shore of Long Island Sound. I believe he said around Darien or Norwalk but in that area in or near a Cove. They came across a big pile of these Large Cannonballs dumped there. They only brought up 3 with a net and ropes with much difficulty due to there weight. He said there are many more probably still down there that some Naval Vessel dumped many years ago.

Yes going to the website I use for great reference www.civilwarartillery.com he says it's a Confederate Spherical round. Interesting since the Dealer just called it a Naval projectile. Great as a Union collector here I'am again with a Rebel item!
