Looking for Information retaining to the 22nd South Carolina Infantry, specifically Co. I. I had several ancestors in the regiment and can only find brief information. if anyone has info on them they would be willing to share please let me know. Also looking for photographs of the regiment.

Here's a good brief history and timeline of the 22nd South Carolina Infantry and the engagements and battles it fought in during the Civil War. It was a well traveled regiment having fought in South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Mississippi. The 22nd South Carolina had the misfortune of being over the spot where the Federals had placed the explosives that started the Battle of the Crater.
Around 170 men were killed during the explosion including the colonel and another 50 in the battle that followed.

If you can provide the names of your ancestors in the 22nd South Carolina, I'm sure either I or one of our other friendly members who likes to do genealogical research may be able to give you more detail about the involvement of your ancestors in the 22nd South Carolina.
