Hey all, recently picked up this 1863 Springfield for a good price and was looking for some insight. From my own knowledge, I believe it is authentic, but it never hurts to have another opinion.

Also, I have virtually zero knowledge about leather goods from the time, so I attached a couple photos of the sling.

Thank you all

Need some better photos and please post the photos here and not in a 3 party site as most folks won't open these items. Just sayin
:nah disagree:

What kind of photos? Better quality or of different angles?
Photos of all the marking would be helpful. There should be marking on the left side of the barrel.

Until we see pics of all the markings (on the barrel and stock) I'd say it's a repro (looks way too nice for a 160 year old musket) just from the 1 photo you shown above. Besides what you pay for it?

Opps don't bother. I clicked the photo and it took me to the site. That's a reproduction. The VP with the Eagle below are dead give aways. They probably had the serial # and "Made in *****" were filed off like I did to mine when I was a Reenactor with my 1863 Springfield.
