1863 Norfolk

Very pleased to add this to the 61 collection. Excellent example of a 63 date Norfolk. Unfortunately, stock has been lightly cleaned, though inspector and Norfolk stamps still remain nice and clear on port side. Manufactured by Welch, Brown and Company, appx 18k manufactured between 62 and 63. Thanks for looking!

What is the history of the Norfolk arsenal? Not familiar with that one.
I'm not sure. Just doing a web search not much info comes up. The best info I've found is that the Norfolk facility may have been more of an assembly facility using contracted parts (similar to Wm Glaze but on the up and up). They received their contract for 18k guns in 61
