A surprisingly varied cargo on a sailing blockade runner:

Charleston Mercury, May 9, 1862:

Vessel Ashore
The schooner Edwin, from Nassau, got ashore at an early hour on Thursday while coming into this port. *** The Edwin was filled with water, ***. Col. Hatch and the soldiers of his regiment , on Morris Island, succeeding in securing a large part of the cargo *** The following is a list of the articles on board, nearly all of which, except the salt, will be got out of the schooner: 25 cases of brogans, 1 case hats, 10 bbls kerosene, 2 bbls hams, 9 boxes cheese, 5 bbls alcohol, 5 kegs ink, 15 kegs mackerel, 83 boxes candles, 80 sacks salt.
