Hello,

We found this in our relatives attic after she passed. Doing some research I see it's a conversion by the Fenian's around 1869. Looking to get it appraised or get information about its value. Any help would be appreciated. Also, there is this French Bayonet dated 1879. Thanks.

Welcome from the Fort Sumter and the Fredericksburg forums. Lots of weapons experts here and some of them will be along soon to let you know more about your gun.

Show better pics of the markings on the musket. My understanding there should be a 3 or 4 leaf clover stamped into the wood stock if it belonged to the Fenians. That bayonet is a nickel and dime item, it's the musket that holds the value.

Thanks. This is all it has on the stock

The bayonet is a French WW1 item with no connection to the rifle musket and depending on some details typically starts at around $150 and goes up depending upon manufacture date, arsenal etc.

Your cartridge M1861 conversion is likely $750-1000 retail range with the current market depending upon condition and where you take it.

That IN stamp on the flat of the stock opposite the lockplate is the Fenian stamp (another mark is the three leaf clover over a R). So, that adds to the value.
