I have seen references to both and I am wondering if there is any difference between the two names or is it just something no one has finalized. I have one labeled as an 1854 with a serial number in the range of imported LeFaucheux but I can't find any information that would contrast the two, if there are two. Thank you all in advance, again. 1854 Is the model and other models later. Ref."SYSTEM LEFAUCHEUX" BY Chris C. Curtis. U.S. purchase of 11833 based on Ex.Order 99. Serial range believed between 25000-37000

The patent for this model had been filed by Eugène Lefaucheux on the 15th April 1854.
On of the very first, the LF 25 is to visit in the Colt Museum of Hartford, the LF 28 and LF 42 are here.
The serail range for the American Civil war is much larger because you must also include an Italian order of 10.000 revolvers of the same 1854 model.
