1847 Soldier info

If that's the case, then a further question could be raised as to 'why only one month of service?' More specifically, if he did only one month of service, what were the circumstances of his departure (illness perhaps?) after such a short period?
I will have to look into that , not sure what records contain this. My current rabbit hole is learning more about him and his relationships to the service in the Mexican war. These Patriots deserve recognition of their service.
I was recently able to provide a military headstone to a family member who served in the Battel of New Orleans. This proving and application process took 6 years

My gr-gr-grandfather's brother died in the Mexican War and it's a hard one to get information on.
