Always wanted one of these, dated 1849, and despite being cleaned at some point it is in pretty good shape. Not gonna shoot it, just a wall hanger. Hope you like the pics.

Great looking old gun. They have a menacing look that says "don't mess with me." I like the mixture of brass and steel. I hope to get one at some point.

I can't bring myself to shoot mine so I built a single shot from a kit and shoot it. BTW as a test I loaded mine and put it up for a year. When I took it out it want off first click.

We had a couple of similar pistols growing up as kids, replicas of course. We called them 'dueling pistols'. They were made of wood and steel, and I likened them to Revolutionary War era pistols. Yours is a beautiful piece of real menacing delight. I have a couple of questions; what is the caliber, and is it mold/make bullets or minie balls; and, what poundage is the trigger? I notice it is cocked in the soldier's picture, and began wondering about the danger of misfire. Does it come with a powder bag, etc.?

I wanted a single shot pistol(replica) to shoot. I considered this one but I recall it came in 54 or larger caliber.

There are threads on here that give the technical details about this gun, I am far from an expert and more of a collector, especially with guns, I know it takes a #11 percussion cap from my research, the soldier in the photo has it in half cock not full.
