1841 rifle

I have 1841 rifle without the bayonet alteration I was just wondering when these rifles were first issued what was issued in place of the bayonet

The first Model 1841 rifles issued are E. Whitney Manufacture and are dated 1844 and 1845. They were issued in 1846 to the First Mississippi Infantry, commanded by Jefferson Davis..hence the name "Mississippi Rifle" for service in the Mexican war.
