Lewis Payne

Edit - Correct. Since I do not count myself in the scores, you get the bonus point for the first correct response to this question.

Edit - Mkline, I'm sorry, but your answer is not visible to me. Sometimes new players have this problem and sometimes they don't. I've never been able to figure out why.

Hope you'll try again on another question.

David Harold -one of his AKA names .… attempted assinin of Sec State Seward. Brave but stupid & easaly influenced by the mediorcer celebrity of J. W. Booth. Not smart enough to make his escape out of Washington unaided & stupid enuf to show up at Mary Surratts boarding house At 1:00am Apr 15 (or 16th) to dig a drainage ditch for her. Booth picked his assassin of Stewart correctly but underestimated the defense Stewarts family, staff, & assisigned veteran willing to protect the Secretary that night.
At any rate he was hung for his attempt to assination a member of the USA GOVERMENT, a defensive invalided, with both a knife & pistol.

Edit - Herold accompanied Lewis Powell to Seward's house, but it was Powell who actually performed the attack. Powell was a former member of the 2nd Florida Infantry; Herold was not.

major Robert Anderson

Edit - Sorry, Custers Luck, but this answer is incorrect. Anderson was at Fort Sumter on April 14 to raise the same flag he had been obliged to take down four years earlier and would probably have had a more prominent place in the headlines had it not been for Lewis Powell's actions. But Anderson was never a member of the 2nd Florida Infantry.

Welcome to the trivia game. Hope you'll come back and play again.
