Another source says... "a British yacht named the Deerhound, rescued about 30 survivors - including the Captain and officers of the Alabama."

Edit - This being the last of your three answers, this is the one that counts.

Doesn't make much difference, since all three answers were within the range that the Trivia Master deemed acceptable.

Waall, we all know Wikipedia aint'n the most reliable source. Their entry on the battle says 38 to 41. Their entry on the Kearsage says 42. More sources, more sources ... Ended up finding many, many sources saying "Semmes and 41", so I'll just go with 42.
