The famous West Point class of 1915 is known as "The class the stars fell on" for a great number of generals it gave to US Army. What class is famous for the number of graduates who became generals in the Civil War?

The class of 1846, which included George McLellan, Stonewall Jackson and George Pickett among its graduates.

Class of 1842 (Callum's register)

Edit - Cullum's register is very lengthy. While I could find a listing of the members of the Class of 1842 in there, I wasn't able to determine which of them became Civil War generals.

Post # 12 below, which provides several links in support, indicates that the Class of 1842 produced 17 Civil War generals, a pretty impressive number, but fewer than either the Class of 1841 or the Class of 1846.

History.Net - The class of 1846

1846
Classmates Square Off

These 59 cadets graduated just weeks after the Mexican-American War began, and most headed south to get a taste of the country's first large-scale combat. Twenty went on to become Civil War generals, including George McClellan, who finished second in the class. At Antietam in 1862, McClellan's already tottering reputation was nearly demolished by the ferocious attacks of his former roommate and best friend, Ambrose Powell Hill (who entered with the '46ers but graduated a year later).

Others in the class: Thomas J. "Stonewall" Jackson, whom most classmates found too cold and surly to call a friend; and George Pickett, the class "goat" (he had the lowest grades) who became infamous for leading the disastrous Confederate charge up Cemetery Hill at Gettysburg.

I am going to go with the class of 1846 since it graduated 25 future generals, and some of the more famous ones as well.

While 46 is my answer, one my favorite is the class of 41. Besides 3 leading officers in the Union force at Wilson's Creek, Lyon, Plummer and Totten, other well known officers who graduated then included Reynolds, Garnett, Buell, Buford, Richardson, Whipple, and others.

The West Point class of 1846 produced 10 Confederate generals and 12 Union generals for a total of 22
