This is a tough one!

This site says: The Confederate Army of Mississippi comprised 45,000 troops with 120 guns.

This site says: The Union and Confederate forces had artillery parity at Shiloh; Grant had 119 guns and the Johnston had 117 Page 17

One is a detailed study of the Battle and the other is a web-site.

I'll trust the Study: My answer is 117

Pew, I'm glad that's over with. Tough question!

Answer- 109.

Edit - The sources presented by the players support numbers as low as 108 and as high as 128. I will accept any answer within the limits of those two numbers.

A number of players answered 62, the number of guns in Ruggles' Battery; however, it appears that Ruggles' Battery was not the only one that participated in the battle on the Confederate side. The question asked for the total number that were used in the battle.
