On December 15, 1862, this midwestern state mustered in a three-year regiment that had a unique condition for enlistment. This condition earned the regiment a unique nickname. The regiment was basically a non-combat unit; it spent most of its service guarding prisoner of war camps and supply trains and mustered out May 24 1865.
What was the Regiment ?
What was the unique condition for enlistment ?
What was the unique nickname of this Regiment ?
