Oliver Hardy (b 5 Dec 1841)
Enlisted July 25, 1861 at Columbia County, GA as a Private in Co K 16th Georgia Infantry <that's my regiment :bounce: > for the war. Hardy was promoted to Sergeant and received a gunshot wound in the "gluteus maximus buttox" at the battle of Sharpsburg on September 17, 1862. He was furloughed for recovery and later served as a Sub Enrolling officer in Columbia County, GA. His son Oliver Norvell Hardy (b. Jan 18, 1892) was the Hardy half of the comedy team Laurel and Hardy.
