Question: A regiment from this state had a rule that any man who uttered an oath should read a chapter in the Bible. Several soldiers got nearly through the Old Testament. Which state was it?
At least I have enough information to take a guess on this one.
A post here on CivilWarTalk by our illustrious Major Bill notes that almost all Michigan regiments were issued Bibles by their local churches. So, if any state were to have a regiment that would have a rule requiring soldiers to read chapters of the Bible, I'd guess it would have been Michigan.
