Iowa. Although the specific regiment is not identified, these sources claim it was an Iowa regiment.

Not part of my answer - just an interesting related fact:
I don't know that reading chapters in the Bible was prescribed punishment in this regiment, but they seemed to be likewise motivated to refrain from "uttering an oath." The members of the Macon Volunteers, Macon Ga, were enlisted as Co B/2nd Battn GA Infantry.

"...It is said that not an oath has been uttered in the ranks of the Macon Volunteers since they left Georgia..."​
