Taking requests on colorization

I am using all the same blending modes. But I also for the second one had a layer with a reddish color, and then painted in with a lighter brush the areas I wanted to shade. I also used dodge and burn I believe.

BTW I will PM you the link to the original
Dodge and burn? wat

Ok. I spent a little more time on this guy. Whatcha think now?

blur, dodge, and burn are definitely great tools for this. Also a brush with a softness of 0!

Clothing looks really good on the latest Matthew Brady Aaron

Seems like we're getting more colorists on this forum (which is a good thing) as there are tons of photos yet to be done.

You know you guys coloring these photographs are making me extremely interested in photography and filling in old photographs like this too...........

Should start a 'how to' for beginners that are clueless what to have, what to do, etc. Such as what computers you have, programs bought, etc.

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements - puffed up my chest - bought it - and broke out into a cold sweat after installing it - all I can do is brighten and darken photos - that's why these guys amaze me - the work that's involved and the decisions on coloring and detail - me, with the program = :banghead:

Coloring is a peice of cake, Pete you seem well versed in computer searches.. So I would suggest studying layers, in its simpliest form, You just create a layer, choose a color you want to use then color the parts in the picture.. If you want to choose another color for something else choose a different layer.. Think of layers as transparencies laid over the original picture, you can change a transparency without effecting the original. Then the different layer blending modes allow you to change how each layer affects the rest of the picture.. Thats it in its basic form, after you get the hang of that, there so much more you can do ..
