I think this is pretty awesome. The uniform looks great, and now the hair simply looks like it's going grey (In a few years, it will be completely white--much like my mom's did--with big streaks getting larger all the time.) And those eyes are cold.....the thing I'm so fascinated by is the apparent difference people saw in him from moment to moment. Wish we had one of him laughing, which apparently just stopped people in their tracks! Then they describe his flashing eyes and teeth in that dark beard! I think you've nailed it really well. Again, I'll let Diane comment....she's the master.

I'll be her disciple. By the way - I've never really read into the Confederate history much - is it true that both Forrest and J.B Gordon was accused of being Grand Wizards of the KKK? I've read about it but that's off of Wikipedia.

Haha, I'm very self-critical. The 3 I linked at the start of this together with this http://i.imgur.com/WGeIx.jpg and http://i.imgur.com/usQZv.jpg are the only ones I'm proud of. The rest is... so and so. I do it mainly because people want it, and I can't say no. It'll be the death of me one day.

Just lots of different layers, thats all...I'm working on a Atlanta entrenchment image that has like 50 layers lol My poor computer is ready to die lol Looks like the artist used the same layer for different things, for example the boots in the foreground, the chest the hat is on and the chair behind it all seem to be using the same layer...Its just so time consuming... but fun...

Different layers? As in creating multiple different green layers and coloring over eachother?

In order to do it, you have to start using masks, actually makes it very easy to do images, and allows easy change of colors...

The way I do it right now is, say, create a layer of solid color and dedicate it to his face, and another one for his suit/jacket, and color each one in specifically. How do you do it?

Pretty much the same way, but masking allows easier edits and changes..The image in your library is just composed of a lot of layers, same process that you are using just much longer...

I think your technique is fantasitic..Just explore what using layer masks can do for you, it might make it easier to edit..Also, different blending modes can give you options about how the colors come out..The group image in your library is certainly something that you could do now, just takes a lot of time to get done... You're an outstanding artist.. Keep it up

Thanks man. I do appreciate it. I just feel like my images are too similar. What do you mean blending modes? And layer masks do what precisely? I'm still new to Photoshop.
