They used to have a statue of Nathan Bedford Forrest in downtown Rome Ga. but it was moved to Myrtle Hill Cemetery. Then later it was moved out of sight.

There is still a monument to Confederate Women at Myrtle Hill Cemetery in Rome. It's clean and cared for, very dignified.

Beautiful statue that should be included on a North Georgia tour. Also Rome Georgia is a historic gem on it's own.

While in Dalton Richard said the Joseph E. Johnston statue had been moved from it's original location Main Street to the Huff House on Crawford St.

After we left the cemetery in Dalton we headed over to the Huff House which was Confederate General Joseph E. Johnston headquarters in the winter of 1863-64. We were unable to go inside as its only open on Fridays. It was built in 1855 and what is neat about it is that in the home turned around so that, along with newer homes, it would face Selvidge Street. This was accomplished by placing the house on a log turnstile powered by mules, a process taking two weeks while the family still lived in the home.

Its also is the new resting place for the only statue of Gen Johnston that @rebel brit just posted photos of. It was moved there in 2017

Next we headed over to Dug Gap. I didn't get a good photo of the view but it was an awesome site and I know @rebel brit got some great shots of the view across the valley.

I never knew there was a statue of him. Actually very good likeness of him, looks heroic.

Yes it is but I'm HAPPY to report that since my accident and recover, Ive been doing Tai Chi for the last 6 weeks and its changed my life as I was able to walk up the mountain and go everywhere we went. Its only 7 minutes a day and its helped me tremendously.

I flew into Birmingham and drove myself on backroads into Calhoun, GA for this trip. Always stop when I see a sign that says, "Historical Marker."

What are the odds I found this, completely by accident? The inscription reads, "This marks the place where Gen. N.B. Forrest with 322 men captured Col. A.D. Streight with 1,466 men May 3 1863"

"Erected by Forney District ALA Division United Daughters of the Confederacy June 3 1939."
