A real shame that the Museum will be closing and the Collection will be split.
I took these pics a couple of months ago showing what an amazing Museum it is/was .

It's sad that this collection may soon be split-up. Not sure if or when the Museum will be closed but if you can make it, it's well worth a visit.

Wow! It will almost be like losing track of history.

Thank you for sharing those pictures. Looks like a great little museum. Sorry to see it go.

If I remember correctly the last day is October 31st. I know several items seem to have come for sale, but I reckon I'm close enough I'd regret if I didn't make it out there before they close.

I know there's a CSN Officer's coat I'd like to see one more time. Especially since a buddy of mine has been after me to look it over again…

This is unfortunate… my wife and I went up there for a 'last trip' within a week of the 'first' closing that ended up not happening.

I too took lots of photos, assuming many pieces would never be seen for at least the rest of my life.

I'm a major dork - but the fact that they had brass handrails and tackle & block/riggings from the Harriet Lane was simply amazing to me.

I hate this museum is closing.
Hopefully, some of their collection will be available for public enjoyment in the future.

Regarding school field trips, I understand the education landscape has changed drastically for many CWT members (myself included).
However, such excursions remain as some of my most vivid memories from elementary school.

No doubt we were taken to historic sites ... but I can't recall any specifics.
But I do remember trips to "factories". As a six year old, going to a local Coca-Cola bottling company was mesmerizing.

All of the machinery ...plus at the end of the tour... a personalized coke in an old fashioned miniature green coke bottle was given to all of us.

But back to the topic, I do hope remaining museums acquire some of these Texas artifacts.
