I have a dvd, Civil War Combat and it shows 4 battles; shiloh, bloody lane, the wheat field, cold harbor. I am impressed with the reenactments. There are others too and I remember seeing this on tv; Little Round Top and was very impressed how well the reenactment film was made; the filming and editing and the reenactors. I tried in the past to find this but never did until I saw it on Youtube finally! I'll provide the link on Little Round Top, but the part I hate are the popup ads but I kept watching it anyway all the way through, hope this will be on dvd one day with other battles included:

Oh! If the only film you've seen was Gettysburg (1993) movie then you're missing out on here on Little Round Top; other units besides just the 2 Alabama regiments like the Texas brigade, Colonel Vincent with his men in the fight, (Brigade Commander)Weed and Hazlett(rank? Commander of a federal artillery battery) in action too in this film along with Confederate Col. Oates of the 15th Alabama.

Civil War Combat was hands down the best show on the CW ever, period, just on account of how well they reenacted whatever battle they were covering in an episode. And it was properly balanced with authorities on the subject having their say.

Heck, they didn't use any old reenactor, they tended to get folks who more or less knew how they were supposed to look uniform and accoutrement wise, and it vastly improves the show. We'll never see another show like it, and I'm glad those alien and reality show obsessed imbeciles at "History" have been putting them up on Youtube here lately. I hadn't seen the Franklin episode since I was a kid, and oh was I glad to see it again. Best episode in my opinion.

@Rusk County Avengers ,

You got that right! The whole series was EXCELLENT for the reasons you give above.

What a shame the History Channel put on that other gunk. Lost all interest in it when that style of programming came along.

I got a DVD of it with Shiloh, Sharpsburg, Wheat Field at Gettysburg, and Cold Harbor I put in when in the workshop. Dang good show.

When I was in school, every Tuesday morning at 6am before school I'd watch Civil War Journal, and in the afternoon I'd watch Wild West Tech, and whenever Civil War Combat was on I'd be watching it and every special they had on the CW as well. April 1865:The Month that Saved America is still a good watch even with the aged data! And every single CW special since has been terrible!

Ever since they went the direction they did, I'm pretty sure I ain't watched that channel since. And the saddest part is, I still hear how I ought to watch it as there's so much history on that channel from regular folks! Every time I hear that I think my cynical low opinion of the human race as a whole may be justified.:cold:

There on youtube. Just type in "Civil War Combat"
Do you happen to know the list of all the combat fighting episodes? I don't and I have typed civil war combat with only very few videos found. As for Cold Harbor it only plays in part, short videos, like 10 minutes at a time. And pop up ads that keeps showing up every 5 minutes. This is why I prefer the dvd and to know the complete list of all the episodes in the series.

An old thread on Civil War Combat .

I never new there were so many.

I only knew of Franklin, Little Round Top, Hornets Nest, Bloody Lane, Cold Harbor, and the Wheatfield

Thank you so much Kyle Kalasnik! I agree with you for I didn't know there were that many episodes. Thanks for sharing!

They just released the Culp's Hill episode today and I all of a sudden realized that the narrator - Tony Jay - is the same person who narrated the opening of Treasure Planet.
I want to see this! The dvd I have on Culp's Hill is the History Channel Gettysburg which covers 5 soldiers- a Federal private and Col. Rufus Dawes with his Iron Brigade and his fight on the first day and on Culp's Hill, as for the Confederates it covers a CSA Maryland soldier who fought on Culp's Hill, Gen. Barksdale and Gen. Davis.
