Collection Rifle Display

Great story in that link.
I've owned perhaps a dozen ex-studio prop guns - the best was an 1862 dated Enfield with a SCH in oval (a rarely seen confederate viewer mark) stamped on the metal. It is pictured in "The English Connection" on page 112 (the SHC mark) and also the proofmarks are shown at page 103 of that book - for some reason, the book does not mention the mean of the mark just above the proofmark, a clearly stamped "W.C.CO" which of course stands for Western Costume Company. It was sold in the big MGM prop sale about 1980, and I have the page of the catalog listing it.
The one that got away was a nice crisp Fayetteville rifle that was used at a prop which was hanging on the wall in a scene or two of some movie.
Cool. I know they lose value due to their prop markings, but I like the stories behind them. When I bought the cadet knowing it was linked to John Wayne, there were about a dozen other I had to pass on. One was used in the Red Badge of Courage; one was carried by Fess Parker in Daniel Boone; a couple more were from War Wagon and another movie I can't recall. I wish I had more info on the one I own as to which movies it was in, but alas, the records were destroyed in a prop barn fire at Fox studios. I can only surmise who carried it in the movies over the years before the studios started moving to fake guns.

well.....hung my Zouave musket original and bayonette on the wall. cost..only $20 for the wall hangers...
but another $120 to have the plumber out to fix the hole in the water pipe I hit while drilling the pilot hole.
yes. used a stud finder, but just missed the stud and hit the water pipe attached on the side.
the worst thing was the plumber kept laughing......Ken
One word - Ouch!

Nice job. Very clever!!
As far as wooden wall mounts for rifles go, I bought some wood ones on ebay. as You can see from the photos, they come in singles, doubles and three gun versions. I hope the attached photos help. They are not very good as the lighting in my basement is not conducive to photography!

Photos didn’t seem to want to attach. I’ll try again.....

Are you sure their not live weapons i would not want the wife to get hold of one

Do you need a licence?.
The Denix are just copies of the originals, I have a colt peacemaker and it’s indistinguishable from the original, my Brown Bess and colt navy are also pretty good. The LeMat is also an excellent reproduction and very weighty. No licence required as they cannot be converted for live firing. There’s a few of photos somewhere on CWT that I posted of my collection. I’ll see if I can find the link. In the meantime here’s a link to denix. It’s getting close to crimbo so they have a sale on...

Thanks mate , That's a great link i think i might plunge for a couple the US Navy Colt and Henry they are particular favourites of mine absolutely beautiful guns.

I did fire an 1853 Enfield once which was an amazing experience shame I'm left handed :cloud9: .

Nicely done. I see nice wall brackers for the other guns. Where can I find similar ones? Do they make mounts that lock to prevent easy theft?
https://www.trackofthewolf.com/List/Item.aspx/31/1 I think they can be found from Amazon cheaper but I hate Amazon. There are some made with a small bar that goes through the hook locking the trigger guard in place but I've been told they do little more than slow down a thief. Ironically, I secure my ACW originals w/ a cable lock through the trigger guard. Doesn't lock them in place but moving a bundle of 12 Rifle muskets is not a task for the weak at heart.

There are also a couple companies out of India that sell non firing replicas... honestly I've found their quality better than Denix as the Denix is just pot metal.

I have no clue Johan but ill take your word thx for the heads up.

Thankyou for taking the time to search these out.

Might have been in the post I submitted a year or so ago on “Home Weaponry displays”? I started it thinking there’d be a few responses and it went on for 10 pages. Lots of great pics of everyone’s various hangings, racks, etc. @Lanyardpuller put everyone to shame, but some cool stuff from James N., DRM, Ferd and others
