Hello all

My Exhusband recently passed away, and left me to deal with all his belongings.
While going through his things I found several old revolvers.

One of them, I have a hard time finding anything on, and therefore I hope you all would be able to help me.
From what I understand , this is Remington 1858 New Model Army converted to a 5 shot

I have found 3 different serial numbers , and I cant honestly read one of them.
I am looking to find some more information on this Remington, and will be ever so grateful for some help.

Welcome From THE Heart Of Dixie. It is indeed a Remington NM. In 1868 Remington started offering a 5 shot metallic cartridge conversion to 45 cal. In doing this the barrel and the cylinder were replace to accommodate the new round which is why the different serial#. The serial # one the frame is going to be the original one. Nice Piece.

I found the exact same gun in auction in 2015.

How it ended up in Norway 4 years later, I have no idea.

On the auction it reads 6 shot, but this is clearly a 5 shot. One of the serial number seems off too. They have 158028
am I am reading this as 138028. would anyone see if this is a 5 or a 3 ?

Would there be anywhere to find where this gun originates from , and when ?

No, there is nothing on the one I have here.

Its just a few bumps, but thats about it. Its got a lot of P`s spread all over the different parts.

All the guns I see online are in great shape. "mine" seems to have been handled pretty rough. Nicks, scratches and bumps everywhere.

I read somewhere

" As these numbers include the New Model Army pistols that were factory conversions or production cartridge pistols, I would be leery
of any Remington with a serial number higher than 138,000 (1000 added by me to cover roughly 1000 guns that may have been made that we don't know about)"

This one has the S# in that range...
I cant find a register for the Remington like I can find for the Colt. Does anything like that exist ?
