Let the Pilgrimage Begin, CWT Reunion in Gettysburg Weekend of Sept 16th thru Sept 18th. 2016

looks like I have to back out......medical reasons mostly.
I just had some extensive shoulder surgery and am looking
at a long period of rehab, six months at the least. Gotta put
off until next year.

have a piece of gingerbread at the Dobbin House for me

Sorry to hear that, Jay Gale! But of course health comes first. Be sure we will think of you and I hope your shoulder will be better soon!

My wife will only bet on a grey horse, here goes another two bucks.
If there is one in the race, it is always my choice. I have always loved grey horses. Oddly enough, when I older, the subject came up and my mother told me her father had always kept grey horses, as they were his favourite. I always thought interesting!

Well there are 4 greys in the race! Load up.

We can bet on the USA races down here. I do bet occasionally but not in a big way. It is a great Aussie tradition. In fact as a nation we gamble way too much. But that's whole other topic.

So I'll have a small bet on Gettysburg this weekend just for fun.

For what it's worth, the likely racetime favorite Exaggerator had an unimpressive final workout for the Belmont this morning. Didn't look like a horse who can get 12 furlongs. Of course, they can fool you, which is why you couldn't buy lunch at McDonalds with what I bet every year.

It's June 8th, and if you listen really good you can barely hear the rustling of the leaves, if you close your eyes you can almost see some leaves falling, if you take a deep inhale, one can almost smell the cool crisp air of fall.............Yes my friend September is drawing near.............We have 2 and a half months of a hot summer to go but September is on it's way :)
Soon we march on Gettysburg, not as foe's but as friends !!!

ITS TIME TO AMP IT UP PEOPLE!!! All you fense walkers need to make a decision. It's only the most complete package ever offered at absolutely no expense other than, Be there! Can you really pass this up?

Still not sure I'm going to be physically up to this--having a setback in my reconditioning (after last winter) now due to severe cold. Of course the older I get, the harder it is to "bounce" back! I have to decide in another month, which is when I should get airfare. Room can be cancelled; airfare can't.

I hope you feel up to it when the decision point arrives. As to airfare I can say you could buy travel insurance which would cover you if you had medical reasons for not being able to go. It'll cost you a bit but would make the gamble considerably smaller. If you are a AAA member they have pretty good deals. The last time I bought a policy it cost me about $75 for coverage on about $3000 of expenses. Not too bad I thought. Just a thought.

Sorry to hear of your setback MaryDee. I hope your health improves and that you are able to join us in September.

I have travel insurance through my credit card, but the illness part means one has to be at death's door or at least hospitalized, not just physically incapable of getting through the numerous activities. No point in going if I'm going to collapse by Saturday noon!

Mary, my sister has limitations on her abilities as well, and I told her to just pick which things she really wanted to do and not feel that she had to do everything and thereby exhaust herself. We could always get someone to video somethings for you so you don't completely miss out on things you are not up to doing.
In the end, you know best what's best for you and if you decide not to come, we'll make sure that we take lots of pictures, etc., and keep you with us "virtually", but hope you'll make it!
