I was thinking it'll be a great idea to have a thread where everyone could post their artwork and I haven't seen a thread like this so forgive me if there is. Be it paintings, models, miniatures, drawings or anything else post your civil war art.

Since I started it I'll be the first, this sketch was done with a pen and notepad so it's not as smooth as it should be. Of course this is Jackson.

Thank you Loriann I'm trying to get over it but habits die hard
Truth be told, I completely understand. I think it definitely helps to be around other artists who encourage each other. There are a few on this forum ~ I'm sure they will love your work.

I'm not an artist, but I do make things. For many years I created but really didn't show much. It wasn't until I surrounded myself with other makers, who enthusiastically encouraged sharing projects, that I became comfortable with sharing my stuff. Any shyness I had about that is long gone. Expired Image Removed

Looking forward to seeing more of your art!

I'll be sure to post some more as I draw them. Sadly my drawings always seems to get misplaced along with my sketch pads thanks to my niece who is an amazing little artist. I appreciate your encouragement

excellent idea, long overdue.

These are concept sketches for a project I've been wanting to do, a pencil study of an Iron Brigade soldier. Seems every time I start up on it I get a commission project or a freelance project and I have to set it aside, no complaints about getting the work but I really want to do this one. These are thinking drawings, trying to work out the pose and the equipment and the general appearance of a soldier taking 10 on a long march and how worn out he would appear. You don't know how much time I spent in front of a mirror with one of my rifles posing like that to get the posture down right.....

But, I gotta finish my current project first, a commission piece for a friend and for me of a bicycle racer running a time trial....we're both huge bike race fans and riders and meet up in Colorado every summer for the races. having fun with this project but really want to get going on that Iron Brigade piece.

BTW, my avatar? it's a self portrait that I did for a painting class a couple of years ago. I think I got my scowl down pretty well in that one

That's awesome, I can't wait to see the finished work.

I feel dumb. But in my defense I was on my phone last night which has a shattered screen...not much of an excuse lol.
I'm on a laptop, and I couldn't tell it was plastic wrap either, so don't feel bad.

I too look forward to your progress. Already this is looking great!

The eyes stand out. You have a look that says, "I'm all business."

Thank you, we had to look in a mirror to do the self portrait, couldn't work from photographs. So I was forced to do two things that I really hate....drawing myself, and looking in a mirror.....hence the "all business" stare and the scowl. But I figured that I would have fun with it regardless so I wore my forage cap that I bought in Gettysburg and faked in the jacket. I entered it in a self portrait contest at the school where I take my art classes, and it took an honorable mention......
ahhhhhh fame and glory:bounce:
