Nathan Bedford Forrest appears in my novel. I'm currently in the editing phase to prepare it for publication. Because he's such a controversial figure, I included him in the Historical Note section at the end of my book. I thought it would make for a good blog topic as well. Here's the link if anyone is interested and wants to weigh in.

Very nice! Thank you for sharing!
Actually I happen to know General Forrest personally! This is us at the Canfield Fair this past summer. No really, history teacher Ron Johnson does and incredible job with his knowledgeable portrayal of General Forrest!

Thank you. I'd love to see him do it some day.

Wow that's cool! Thanks for posting, and congrats on getting ready to publish! :)

I will add in observation that this will scarcely be the first time Forrest has appeared as the character in a novel, and that an early notable example was in Shelby Foote's 1950's Shiloh.
Thanks for that reminder !

I haven't read Shelby Foote's novel Shiloh in about ten years.

From what I what I remember, I was impressed.
I had never read a Foote novel until then, and really didn't know what to expect.
As my only experience was with his trilogy.

If I recall correctly, Shelby Foote did create a very credible representation of Forrest during the Battle of Shiloh.

Thanks for letting us know !

I'm kind of like Diane, it's been a long time since I've had time to read any books.

But not to worry, your'e now on my list . . . albeit at the bottom of a long list.

However, I do read everything I put on my list !

That's all I can ask for. It's an honor to be on your list, even if it is at the bottom.
