I've been working with the Lyman & Merrie Wood Museum of Springfield History in Springfield (Mass.) people who maintain a somewhat similar site, but without the re-enactment element:
31st Massachusetts Volunteers: Honoring the Civil War Soldiers of the Western Bay State Regiment.
Some time ago the Museum came into possession of a huge archive of material that had been assembled about 100 years ago for writing a regimental history of the 31st. The man who was writing it died, and the project was never completed. But, fortunately, all of the "raw material" gathered for it have survived. So, a team of volunteers headed by Cliff McCarthy, Larry Lowenthal and Stan Praeger, have undertaken the task of publishing online the scores of letters, diaries, memoirs, etc, comprising a full history of a regiment that has never before had a regimental history. My only involvement has been in transcribing some of the manuscripts.
