For those of you who are interested in visiting the park at Gettysburg during the election winter months it don't want to freeze your toes off in the snow, maybe a lecture by one of the illustrious park service folks, or a book discussion, would be a nice change. Here is the list of the lectures and other winter 2016 programs, all of them at the Visitors Center.

I have attended a number of the Winter Lecture Series lectures over the years, and they are usually informative and well-presented, on topics usually a little off the beaten path, so to speak. I know that others here (like @cash) have attended them, too. If you're out in the Gettysburg area looking for something to do to beat the winter doldrums, try one!

This year they are also conducting a book discussion on Saturdays. The first book is Tony Horowitz's Confederates in the Attic. They'll discuss Chapters 1-5 on January 9. Matt Atkinson will deliver the lecture that day on Jubal Early and Confederate Memory.

I'm planning to go to Matt's lecture. I like the idea of the book discussions, too. Did they do that in the past?

That sounds wonderful, I have to check some of those lectures out on that site. it is Great to live close enough to Gettysburg to plan some visits this Winter. Thanks for sharing :)
