Which one is Brig. Gen. Charles Thomas?

Hello everybody, here is a photo which is said to show Acting Quartermaster General Charles Thomas who was a brigadier general I believe. However I'm not sure which person in the photo is BG Thomas. Is it the white-bearded older gentleman standing there with his hand in his coat? Or the younger man with the mustache sort of behind him? Many thanks to anyone who can answer this.

Don't really know. But of the men visibly in uniform only the bearded gent you refer to seems to be old enough to be the Asst. (and occasionally Acting-) QMG (1797-1878).

Thank you John Hartwell, I was kind of suspecting it would be him. I should have looked up how old Charles Thomas was, duh. Don't know what I was thinking. Thanks again.

Brevet Brigadier General (and Major General) if I´m not mistaken. The Colonel retired in 1866. And generalsandbrevets supports @John Hartwell in his guess for the white-bearded officer (and uses a cropped version of the same picture).
