This is the National Cemetery Gate on Baltimore Pike. Behind you is East Cemetery Hill, where the fence that is now between the National Cemetery and Evergreen Cemetery once stood.

I think its one of the entrances to the National Cemetery. The car gate thats never open, with the pedestrian entrance on the side. The Reynolds statue is behind you. I don't know off hand what's different different about that area now.

Looks like fence posts for National Cemetery HOWEVER, I recall a picture of similar gate posts leading to Ziegler's Grove. I cannot recall detail on the posts such as state names.

Award yourselves the invisible Golden Gate!
The site is next to a property once owned by Captain John Myers whose orchard and gardens covered some two acres there. The home was used by Union General O. O. Howard.
