I'm not much of an expert, so forgive me if this is a really dumb question, but if this is so then where is the stone wall? And where is this in relation to the Bushman farm?
@RochesterBill, which stone wall are you referring to? There are plenty of stone walls around Gettysburg, The stonewall in the famous Sharpshooters Den is to the left of this photo (off of this photo- kind of left of the car shown).
The Slyder and Bushman Farms are behind the trees on the left side of the photo. The Slyder Farm is closer to Devils Den.
Play around with Google maps satellite view of Gettysburg. Google shows the location of many monuments and farm buildings. Short of spending time on the field, it is a great one to learn the battlefield. Gettysburgstonesentinels.com is another source to learn the battlefield.
I have been going to Gettysburg 2-3 times per year since 1966 so I have lots of field days. Despite being on the battlefield in excess of 200 days, I still use the sites I mentioned above for research. Gettysburg is a large place with lots of action. Tough to remember them all.
Yes! Photo was taken from Sickles Avenue on the crest of Devil's Den not long after the area was cleared and some new fencing constructed. Stay tuned for next Wednesday's photo!
