Help me out here. If I was looking to buy a print from that site as a gift for someone, what is the difference between an "Unframed Signed & Numbered Paper Lithograph" and an "Unframed Artist Proof Paper Lithograph"? I'm guessing it would cost a pretty penny for a good frame too. And what the hell is a giclee? The title is Jeb Stuart's Return by G. Harvey.

Those look great.Looks like John Paul Strain from here..
Not sure about the differences in the lithographs, but giclee is a process of printing in which the ink is applied in layers making it look more like the original painting.Help me out here. Thanks. I think he never became as famous the others because he painted a wide variety of subjects, not just the American Civil War.Nailed it... good eye... knew it certainly wasn't a Troiani or Strain painting.. but wasn't not familiar with this particular work..
It's a nice painting... has a bit more of a classical, Western Americana look to it then some of the more popular CW work that one typically sees out there. I like it. Here's another nice one by the same artist, "Lee & Longstreet", and it's even pricier...
But for some reason his work titled "Jackson's Winter Campaign" is a lot cheaper...![]()

All three seem to have a lot in common, same perspective & similar features, just different characters...

The Artist Proofs are generally $50-100 more.I would go for the non-artist proof unless it's just a few dollars more for the proofed. The Artist Proof was inspected by the artist before signing and sometimes adds a small pencil drawing. I was a picture framer for several years.
