Radical or military reconstruction ended in 1877, that seems about when actual reconstruction began between the US and former Confederates began. So when did it realisticly end?
Between US and former Confederates wouldn't it been pretty settled by WW1, probally sooner? If looking to blacks being rather fully integrated north and south it would be least 1970's? The Federal government/military didn't even desegregate until 1948.
It doesn't help that reconstruction, at least to history seems rather ill defined. As military reconstruction is actually counter to political reconstruction. As federal/military management isn't restoration of state and local civil management.
