I would appreciate help with two historic artifacts found in a Texas archeological site. The button?/snap? was found between 20-30 cms below surface. The larger portion if 0.66 inches wide and the upper part measures 0.37 inches. The item is 0.2 inch tall

I would like to know what type the buckle it is (perhaps horse tack?) It was found at 23 cm below surface. it is 1.8 inches x 1.2 inches. The upper (end) bar is at about an 120 degree. There is a slightly raised rectangle on the end bar, but I cannot discern any lettering or emblem.
