Found in Union camp near Kennesaw Mt. Measures 3/4'x1'. Possible chaplain's badge?

I checked a number of sources, and other than being the same shape, they don't look alike. I had thought of it looking like some fraternal organization or society. Thanks for that thought.

After sending detailed Information and photos to Mac AI, it was identified as most probably a personalized martingale shield or binder boss ( horse tack ) commissioned by someone who served in both the 3rd (diamond) and 12th (star) army corps.

That cross looks like a Christian symbol rather than dividing the shield into quarters. The diamond reminds me of a suit of cards, but the star suggests this is not the case. Military unit insignia would fit, but a badge would be unlikely to include two different military units on the same badge. A fraternal organization badge might work or a non-affiliated decorative badge with random symbols might also fit. I would give more weight to a fraternal organization badge and exhaust that avenue first. I could be totally wrong but it's just a thought.
