This is for members to post the American Civil War book titles in their libraries, if they wish.
Most of my books are bought off Amazon so I can look at my past orders to make a list.
In another thread, CSAtoday and I published the names of our books and the libraries told a great deal about our positions and interests.
It also gives ideas to newbies about what is out there to read.

It would be interesting to see what others have but for me to make a list I'd have to type some two hundred titles which I do not have memorized and which are located on the other side of the room. There's also the file cabinet of stuff I've copied from various places which would take days. So, I'm afraid I can't play; sorry.

Always take pictures of the books.

I have mainly books on Eastern Battles, First Manassas (Bull Run), Peninsula Campaign - some of the campaign itself, and a couple on a particular battle of the campaign, Sharpsburg (Antietam), Fredericksburg, Chancelersville, & Gettysburg. Also have about 3 or 4 on the 1st Minnesota, 2 or 3 on some Georgia Regiments, one on the 17th Maine, and one of the 5th Texas. Never cared at all for the politics, causes, etc. of the war as I find them BORING, but that's just me. I am interested in the units and battles, especially if they have common soldier accounts. Example - The Fredericksburg Campaign: Winter War on the Rappahannock by Francis A. O'Reilly. To me, that is one of the BEST books on any subject I have ever read. Planning on getting Powell's three volumes on Chickamauga as that is probably the only Western Theater battle that interests me.

I've got a decent (and growing) selection of books on my bookshelf, but the majority of what I've read has come from the public library.
I found buying used books was not only cheaper than paying late fines on books I borrowed from the library, but they came to my door.

Do ebooks count? I have downloaded so many but I do so prefer actual books to this tablet thingie! The Hubby got me a few new ones for Christmas including a couple of those Politically Incorrect Guide books some of y'all mention ever so often! He said, since they are so passionately debated, we MUST add them to our collection! Hahaha! He is such a stinker!

e-books count.

Unless a book is on one of my core areas (naval, logistics, railroads) a book is unlikely to remain in my library after I've read it. The local public library has received literally hundreds of books from my wife and me over the last 20 years. I currently have about 100 CW titles, and the next one I will add will be my own book (proofed the cover today).

Everything in my library is specific battle related histories or regimental with a number of autobiographies or memoirs and a few pictorial histories. I would say I have a good 3-400 books. They include ORs and all kinds of hard and softback books.

I think people should cater their books to their specific interests and not buy just to buy. Most probably think that way?
