What Are The Odds

While setup at the Franklin show last month, I was sitting there minding my own business and 3 guys were looking at the ID UCV uniform grouping I have for sale. I walked around and started talking with them and one of them pulled out his phone and showed me a photo of a cabinet card that he had. He had bought a box of photos at an estate sale the Wed before the show in Linton Tn. and this one was in there.

I have had this grouping awhile and when I got it all the items were in the small suite case and the hat was flat. There was and old tag in there that had Johnson Vaughn Linton 11th Tenn Cavalry Forrest Cavalry Corp. So I started doing some digging and found a photo of him on Find A Grave. What Are The Odds that I would be there setup and he bought the photo 4 days before the show. I tried to buy the photo but he did not want to sell it, so I tried to sell him the uniform group but he could not afford it. The only thing that was not in the suite case was his SCH and the cross swords.

I was blown away. At least I got a LOT clearer photo of him. The cabinet card was not marked with his name so I was able to help the guy out with who he was.

Sometimes the stars all align. Too bad they were so close to an amazing purchase yet they couldn't quite meet.
