i am trying to locate a sketch or representation of Julia Dent Grant's wedding gown. Please let me know if you can help. I've contacted the grant library but their archivist is on vacation. Thanks.

Did her daughter get married in the same dress? I'm only asking because I know that in some families the wedding dress was passed down.

For any of you interested, the grant library contacted me back. They said they only have a description: "a magnificent, rich, soft, white, watered silk." The veil was "white tulle with lovely wide fringe." She fastened "white cape jessamines" to the veil and had a corsage bouquet of the same flowers."

thats at least something to go on. Now to find a civil war gown maker.... Anyone know any good ones? I can pay for quality :) this is hopefully once in a lifetime! (Ok twice, but we can ignore that first try.)

Do you have a website? Or are you on etsy? I'd like to see your dresses :)
